What networking is…  First of all, what is networking?  Let’s get clear.  Networking, or job search networking, are overused terms that mean something different to each of us.  For us, networking is much more than just passing out business cards.  It is all about finding a job opportunity by getting yourself introduced to people, meeting with them to tell them what you want and what you have to offer, and getting their help.  This is how the majority — up to 80% — of jobs are found as it has been for years.

Step 2

What networking is not:

  • Schmoozing
  • Working a room at a gathering, be it a social or business group
  • Having unemployed people talking with other unemployed people
  • Asking your plumber or mailman if they know of any jobs
  • Relying on social media sites
  • Cold calling of any kind
  • Sending out resumes cold
  • Responding to posted job ads

Searching for a job can be one of the most stressful, fearful and frustrating things you ever do in your career, especially in this economy. Jobs are scarce. Employers are receiving hundreds of job applications every day for very few openings. Looking for a job can feel demeaning, hopeless and down right depressing.
If you’re not getting the results you want from your job search, you’re not alone. Looking for a job the traditional way just doesn’t cut it anymore. Times have changed.

Step 3

What networking is… Networking the Networking Steps way is  a deliberate  set of activities that gets job seekers in front of hiring managers. We provide the best way to network your way into your new career – even if you hate the thought, are introverted or networking phobic. Educated professionals who are serious about their careers and getting them back on track will benefit from learning the process.   Our clients get  live workshops in the Chicago area with lots of exercises. Clients emerge understanding how to find a job through networking our way and the confidence to  do it.  And we stay beside you as you learn with our additional coaching and mentoring programs.

Step 4

Not everyone qualifies for this training.  The best results are obtained when my clients meet the following criteria*:

  • They sent a zillion resumes to posted jobs with no results
  • Are frustrated and lost in their job search
  • Feel they are on a hopeless mission
  • Have no network or have gone through the network they had unsuccessfully
  • Need to get serious and make a serious change in their job search technique
  • They have no idea what to do

After the above criteria are met, and it is time to get serious, I can help you learn how to network.

*This also works well for people that have never had to go out and look for a job
